Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical or engineering field or equivalent practical experience. MBA or Master’s degree in a technical or engineering field.
  • 7 years of relevant experience in procurement and supply chain management.
  • Experience in electrical equipment commodity management.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience with large-scale industrial engineering and construction programs, with data centers.
  • Knowledge of international requirements, currency, tax, codes, and logistics challenges.
  • Excellent leadership and influencing skills.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation communication skills, translating to relationships with stakeholders and suppliers.

About the job

The Global Commodity Management team is focused on Technical Infrastructure and is responsible for sourcing, procurement, and supplier management functions for data center power and cooling equipment. You will partner closely with Data Center Engineering and Construction teams to make sure Google has the supplies and equipment to put into production the innovative products coming from our Engineering teams.

As a Commodity Manager, you will use your wide industry knowledge and strategic supplier relationships to optimize our total cost of ownership for our global, and growing infrastructure. Behind everything, our users see online is the architecture built by the Technical Infrastructure team to keep it running.

From developing and maintaining our data centers to building the next generation of Google platforms, we make Google’s product portfolio possible. Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute commodity strategies through close collaboration with Google Engineering and Commodity teams.
  • Conduct detailed agreement discussions, including comprehensive agreements, and ensure capacity planning and supply-chain strategies are implemented to meet On Time Delivery.
  • Drive Request for Proposal (RFP)/Request for Information (RFI)/Request for Quotations (RFQs) and lead cross-functional teams with the supplier selection process. Define cost drivers, develop cost models, and establish should cost analysis.
  • Serve as internal point of contact for all ongoing remediation and quality improvement programs, define multi-year research and development efforts, and implement supply chain and supply base improvements.
  • Implement supply chain improvements, driving supply base improvement with supplier metrics and regular business reviews.
