Responsibilities
SUMMARY – Provides a basic level of patient care and treatments. Assists with obtaining vital signs, documents chief complaint, and all actions taken. Alerts physician of problems/concerns/abnormalities.
Assists with obtaining patient history assist physicians and residents and/or licensed nursing personnel. Performs simple patient procedures, sets up exam/procedure rooms including instruments for minor procedures, prepares and may include administrating medications (excluding IV) under the direct supervision of a physician.
Obtains lab specimens and fills out requisitions completely and accurately. In addition to the above, Medical Assistant II functions more independently and coordinates the workflow of MAs when necessary. Obtains authorization for referral (normally in small clinics). Conducts front desk duties such as registration, check-in, and scheduling of patients.
Qualifications
MINIMUM
- High School Diploma or G.E.D Graduate of an approved Medical Assistant Program or completion of a U.S. Armed Forces medical services training program.
Note: Candidates who were hired prior to February 2, can satisfy the minimum education requirements by providing proof of direct supervision for a minimum of 2,000 hours by the same physician, physician group, or physician assistant.
American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers. Demonstrated experience with computer programs utilized for admitting and scheduling patients required.

- Previous experience in designated specialty
