Our Water team works across the water, wastewater, and stormwater, as well as surface waters and irrigation, partnering with clients spanning the municipal, industrial, transportation, commercial, mining and agricultural sectors.

To be part of our motivated and trusted Southern Water team of engineers, scientists, project managers, modellers and designers, we’re looking for a Modeller to join us in our Christchurch office base.
We’re looking for a highly motivated individual who is dedicated to developing and sharing technical innovation to push boundaries and continually challenge and overcome conventions and constraints to make every day better.
Every day will provide you with new challenges and look a little different, overall, this role will see you:
- Develop hydrological and hydraulic models of hydraulic systems;
- Analyse and assess hydraulic, GIS and survey data
- Undertake water resource investigations and planning studies;
- Provide outs suitable for review for specialist team members
The role is full-time and permanent, with minimum guaranteed hours of 40 hours a week.
About you
You are a highly motivated Modeller who would like to grow within the Water market, with a strong track record in the successful delivery of modelling in a consulting environment. You have a Bachelor of Science or a relevant, or at least 2 or 3 years of relevant work experience.
This experience will be across technical, delivery and client-facing activities and you will have the natural ability to build wide and effective networks of contacts inside and outside of the organisation, ultimately leading to continuing work and repeat business.
You love to learn, and share knowledge and are someone who can bring a fresh perspective to ensure the development of the people around you. You constantly seek better practice for the overall quality of our work and our client experience.
