Full Job Description

THE FAMILY | Located near Hancock Park and Koreatown, this family of five is seeking a new long-term nanny to help with the daily care of their children. The family has three children ages 5, 2, and 9 months.

THE OLDEST | He is 5 years old and described as high-energy and very intelligent. Recently, the family learned that he is gifted. He has ADHD, for which he takes medication daily. He has asthma and seasonal allergies.

He is allergic to pineapple. He started Kindergarten and he participates in several activities like gymnastics, swimming, and soccer. He is in school all day, leaving at 7:00 AM and returning around 3:45 PM most days.

He takes the school bus and his mom picks him up from the bus stop. Being the oldest, he takes much pride in caring for his younger siblings. THE MIDDLE | She is 2 years old and can be shy and introverted with new faces. With family, she is funny, silly, and loves to try new things.

She attends a half-day preschool program, but no longer naps. Instead, is given quiet time to “read” books and rest. She has no known allergies or health issues.

THE YOUNGEST | He is an extremely happy baby. He naps easily and does not have any sleeping or feeding issues. He eats solid foods but primarily drinks formula. He naps 2x/a day and follows a firm schedule.

He is on the waitlist for a daycare near his sister’s preschool. THE JOB DETAILS | Connect with all three children in a loving, kind, and compassionate manner. Support the mother with the daily afternoon and evening care of the three children.

The nanny will mostly spend their time with the youngest two. It is important the nanny establishes a relationship with all three. When the children are with the nanny, play and engage them with age-appropriate activities. Take the children to activities, play dates, playgrounds, etc. Pick-ups and drop-offs.

Proactively support all aspects of their care including but not limited to the day-to-day afternoon and bedtime routines, general hygiene/cleanliness, creating age-appropriate activities, children’s meal/dinner preps, children’s dishes, bottle washing, restocking items, children’s laundry, tidying/picking up after children and self, emptying backpacks, setting up the children for the next day, etc.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE | Loves working with multiple children. Has experience working as a nanny caring for multiple ages 5 and under. Comfortable working alongside the parents. (Mom works from home and dad often travels for work.) Enjoys supporting large families. Thrives in busy environments.

Loves being a nanny. Has a minimum of five years of experience working as a professional nanny. Comfortable driving children. Has a basic understanding of child development and how to nurture and stimulate young minds. Enjoys home-based age-appropriate activities.

Active and energetic. Enthusiastic. Reliable. Patient. Consistent. Communicative. Has the energy to keep up with three young children. Takes the initiative with play-based activities and engagement. Proactively maintains the day-to-day routine for the children.

Strong work ethic. Team player. Respects professional/personal boundaries. Strong command of English, written and verbal. Spanish speaking is a perk.

THE REQUIREMENTS | Previous experience working as a nanny caring for multiple children at a time ideally ages 6 and under. Has taken Early Childhood Education courses. A minimum of five years of childcare and nanny experience Previous experience with toddlers, preschoolers, and kindergarteners.

CPR/First Aid Certification in Pediatrics and Adults. Stellar references from previous nanny family employers.

Travel with the family – one week at a time. Possibly, 1 to 3 times a year. Nanny needs their own reliable means of transportation to and from work. The nanny will be provided a vehicle for on-the-job driving when driving the children.
