Job Description
The Mandiant Security Validation division of Mandiant is reshaping how organizations measure, manage and improve cyber security effectiveness. Evangelizing a technology movement like this one takes more than just a good sales pitch. As a team, we obsess over helping our customers:Â

We are currently seeking a Director of Software Engineering to join our team, focused on supporting our cross-platform endpoint agent.

What you will do:                       Â
- Develop a masterful understanding of the security validation platform to drive the development of the endpoint agent and propose new initiatives to enhance the productÂ
- Drive feature requirements definition and design on the team in coordination with other leads and product managementÂ
- Manage technical projects for the security validation Actor team and report on progressÂ
- Execute part of a metrics-based operational analysis and support function for our SaaS platformÂ
- Manage a team of 5-10 individuals and their day-to-day activities, including:Â
- task planning and prioritizationÂ
- individual developmentÂ
- goal managementÂ
- Build the team and hire more resources as neededÂ
- Support agile development efforts on a weekly basis, including:Â
- Sprint and release planningÂ
- Running scrumÂ
- Bug and feature request triageÂ
- Coordinate sustaining feature and bug fix efforts for the MSV ActorÂ
- Interact with customers to troubleshoot technical issues with the productÂ
- On a quarterly basis, develop plans for Actor feature developmentÂ
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:Â
- At least 10 years of combined experience in software engineering and managementÂ
- Experience managing a software development team, including setting goals, ensuring employees have the tools for success and prioritizing workÂ
- Project planning experience with tools such as JiraÂ
- Documentation and presentation experience using Confluence, Microsoft Word and PowerPointÂ
- Experience working and designing server-side development in a Linux platformÂ
- Knowledge of computer networks and protocols, as well as application of common security technologies such as firewalls, endpoint protection, and proxiesÂ
- Experience with system-level development on at least one of the following OSes – Windows, macOS, Linux Â
- Experience developing relatively large-scale software in at least one of the following languages – Python, Ruby, GolangÂ
- API design experienceÂ
- Applied use of relational database technologies, preferably PostgreSQLÂ
- Experience with unit testing and automated functional testsÂ
- User-level knowledge of project planning tools such as Jira Â
- Documentation and presentation experience using Confluence, Microsoft Word and PowerPointÂ

- Experience working in a cloud environment - GCP, AWS, AzureÂ
- Experience building services and applications using Docker and KubernetesÂ
- Familiarity with continuous integration, testing tools, workflows (Jenkins, Github Actions), and source code management tools (git)Â
- Advanced understanding of how to debug issues such as proxy communicationsÂ
- Deeper than user-level knowledge of OS internals and system administration toolsÂ
- Experience in cross-platform Python developmentÂ
- Bringing a passion to stay on top of tech trends, experimenting with and learning new technologies, participating in internal & external technology communities, and mentoring other members of the engineering communityÂ

The final salary will be determined commensurately with the cost of living, experience level, and/or any other legally permissible considerations. Incentive Compensation: Eligibility for annual bonus subject to individual and company performance; eligibility for the award of Restricted Stock Units subject to eligibility requirements, approval from Mandiant’s Compensation Committee, and vesting terms.
