Job Responsibilities

Supports the San Antonio Food Bank with all aspects of Financial compliance including identification of financial reporting risks, assessment of processes, and analysis of control activities. Provides support to the accounts receivable department by reviewing daily cash receipts.

  • Works closely with program directors to ensure compliance with Federal regulations.
  • Researches and analyzes current processes to identify risk areas.
  • Recommends changes in accounting systems and procedures.
  • Review work completed by the Accounting Coordinator – AR, reconciliations, and documents to ensure accurate financial transactions.
  • Maintains Fixed Assets records by recording the cost of newly-acquired fixed assets, tracking existing fixed assets, calculating and recording depreciation, and accounting for the disposition of fixed assets.
  • Prepares support schedules and other analyses as needed for year-end audit purposes.
  • Assists with preparing and/or presenting documentation for annual audits and any internal or external audits, reviews, and site visits.
  • Prepares monthly balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Prepares miscellaneous journal entries related to the month-end close process.
  • Other duties and special projects as assigned by the manager.

Job Qualifications

  • College Degree in Accounting or Business Administration is preferred.
  • 3 to 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Knowledge of GAAP and basic fund accounting procedures.
  • Experience working in a Non-Profit Corporation is preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Skills in computer applications i.e. word processing and database management.
  • Ability to work independently with minimum supervision.
  • Ability to organize work, attention to detail, accuracy, and the meeting of deadlines.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with other Food Bank staff and volunteers.
  • Ability to present a professional demeanor under a variety of conditions.
